The NFL has formal supplier diversity programs that prioritize certified diverse businesses for Super Bowl vendor opportunities. Past Super Bowls have directed 25-35% of local vendor spend to diverse-owned businesses. Certification opens doors to: NFL supplier diversity programs, corporate sponsor procurement, government contracting set-asides, and networking within diverse business communities.
Certifications
MBE (Minority Business Enterprise)
Certifying agency: National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC). Requirements: 51%+ owned, operated, and controlled by minority individuals. Processing: 6-12 weeks. Cost: $250-$500.
WBE (Women Business Enterprise)
Certifying agency: Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC). Requirements: 51%+ owned, operated, and controlled by women. Processing: 6-10 weeks. Cost: $200-$600.
VOSB (Veteran-Owned Small Business)
Certifying agency: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Requirements: 51%+ owned by veterans. Processing: 4-8 weeks. Cost: Free.
LGBTBE (LGBT Business Enterprise)
Certifying agency: National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). Requirements: 51%+ owned by LGBT individuals. Processing: 4-8 weeks. Cost: $400.
Application Tips
Start NOW — processing takes 4-12 weeks. Gather: articles of organization, operating agreement, tax returns (3 years), personal financial statements, resume/bio of qualifying owner(s). Ensure ownership percentages are documented in legal filings.
